Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage. – Ps 84:5

A pilgrimage is a journey. The Psalmist reminds us to find our strength in God as we set our heart on completing this journey called life.

A pilgrimage means delaying instant gratification for the hope of something more profound. You can spend your life grasping at temporal straws: seeking happiness in things that will fade and pass away. Or, can you can spend your days preparing for the permanent joy of eternity: God’s presence for all of future history.

Take joy in the journey! Set your heart on pilgrimage, and get comfortable with uncertainty. Life may bring you twists and turns, but God will strengthen you through it all. In the end, you will get to where He Is, if you follow Him with all your heart!

Prayer:

Father, help me to take joy in the journey! I know life is a gift. Help me to stop worrying where I want to be, and start having fun getting there!
