Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow about this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.” – Josh. 11:6
Do you have trouble hearing God’s voice in the midst of a trial? Do you have difficulty deciphering what is Him, and what is just noise? This is what the voice of the Lord sounds like in the face of adversity: “Do not be afraid” (v 6). He never discourages you or knocks you down. He reminds you that you are “more than a conqueror” (Rom. 8:37) through Jesus! He emboldens you to step up to the fight and charge towards the victory!
Take a moment today to listen for the voice of the Lord. He is the One who is encouraging you. Pushing you to keep moving forward. Reminding you that you are loved. Telling you to never be afraid! Any voice that does not match His heart is not Him.
Prayer:
Father, I know the sound of Your voice. Help me to listen to You, and to block out the rest! Thank You for Your constant love and encouragement, in Jesus’ name.
