Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” – Lk 19:5

Zacchaeus was small. When Jesus passed by, he couldn’t see! But Zacchaeus was not afraid to go out on a limb for Jesus. He was not afraid to look like a fool! He knew He needed a glimpse of Jesus, and he was willing to do anything to get one; so he climbed a sycamore tree to see Him. Not only did he see Him; but Jesus looked back!

God responds to hunger. Faith activates encounters! Zacchaeus clamored to get a glimpse of God; so God, “looked up and said to him, … ‘today I must stay at your house’” (v 5).

Prayer:

Father, make me hungry for You! I know You respond to hunger. I know when I clamor just to get a glimpse of You, You make Yourself available!
