Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…for the share of the children of Judah was too much for them. Therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of that people. – Josh 19:9

There was trouble in paradise. God led His people into the Promised Land, and gave Judah their inheritance. But when they got there, they found something wrong. It was too much!

God is abundantly generous. Judah’s inheritance was so large that it was, “too much for them” (v 9). This is a good, Biblical problem to have! You won’t have to worry about lack when you get where God is leading you. Your only problem will be figuring out what to do with everything He has used to bless you.

God is a too-much God! Jesus’ disciples caught so many fish that their “net was breaking” (Lk 5:6)! God doesn’t just want your cup full; He wants it “running over” (Lk 6:38)! God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph 3:20)! Don’t take your foot of the gas until your only complaint is, “God, this is too much!”

Prayer:

Father, You are so good to me. Thank You for Your consistent abundance and generous heart. You are a generous God; help me to be generous in Your name!
