Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all its fullness, You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name. – Ps. 89:11-12
God created everything you see around you. He created the heavens. He is the Author of the world and all its fullness. The north and the south exist by His design! Every living creature has breath in its lungs because God put it there. He made it; and that means it rightly belongs to Him.
Do you see how that changes everything? If the earth belongs to God, it is not your right to live here; it is His blessing. God didn’t have to make you and put you on this earth! But He did. He created you to bless you and to love you. Your life is a gift. And instead of wasting a single moment thinking you need or deserve something you don’t have, you get to spend the rest of your life being grateful that God thought to include you in His plans at all.
One more thing: He made you, too:
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1 Cor. 6:19-20
God made you. You are not your own! You were bought at a price. And now you get to spend the rest of your life serving God with thanksgiving, and making sure He gets what He paid for.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that it all belongs to You! My life. My livelihood. My home. My family! All that I have is Yours, really and truly. Help me to glorify You by the power of Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
