Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. – Josh 21:44

The fruit of a God-ordained conquest is rest. Do you want to know if a plan is from God? When you reach the end goal, will you be able to rest? Or will you have to struggle and fight to maintain everything you’ve built? If you build it yourself, you have to maintain it. But if God builds it for you, He will maintain it on your behalf!

When God establishes you, the result is perfect peace: Israel experienced rest from her enemies all around. God gave everything He promised to Israel, and He would maintain everything He promised to Israel. There were no more enemies to be defeated, which meant the people of Israel would never need to fight to maintain their possession. God had given it into their hand, and He would keep it for them!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for rest! I invite You to build my future and my life. I know that wherever You take me, I will find perfect peace, in Jesus’ name.
