Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’ ” – Judges 2:2-3
The people of Israel were supposed to completely drive out the Canaanites. But they didn’t listen. They were supposed to eliminate every foothold the enemy had. But they didn’t finish the job! The result is perpetual conflict – war after war – in the Middle East that persists until today. The Canaanites would be “thorns in [Israel’s] side” for generations to come.
Don’t leave the enemy a foothold. If God wants you completely healed, believe for complete healing. If God wants your relationship completely restored, believe for complete restoration. If God wants your finances abundantly blessed, believe for blessed abundance! Do not give the enemy one iota of wiggle room. Drive him out of your life: completely, and forever, in Jesus’ name!
Prayer:
Father, give me the persistent strength I need to drive out the enemy from my life. I will not allow him a single inch of wiggle room. I will contend for God’s best, in Jesus’ name!
