Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Gilead’s wife bore sons; and when his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out, and said to him, “You shall have no inheritance in our father’s house, for you are the son of another woman.” – Judges 11:2

Our natural tendency is to reject people who are not like us. Jephthah was “the son of a harlot,” so his brothers viewed him as illegitimate. They chased him out of the house, and denied him his inheritance. How often do you push others away because they don’t think and act like you? How many times have you been rejected because you don’t fit in the way others want you to?

But this is not the Kingdom. In God’s eyes, everyone has the opportunity for acceptance:

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. – Gal. 3:28

God forbid you think you are not welcome in the Kingdom of God because of your background! It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, where you’ve been or what you’ve done: God loves you, and His arms are open. Come to Jesus, and receive Him into your heart.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for accepting me! I repent of the times in my life when I’ve driven others away because they’re not like me. I ask for healing for the times in my life when others have rejected me. Thank You for Your beautiful Kingdom, where everyone who has Jesus has everything they will ever need!
