CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“Then the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him…” (Judges 15:14). Samson was a powerful man. However, he was not the source of his own power: the Holy Spirit was! In Judges 15:15, Samson kills 1,000 men with the jawbone of a donkey. In other words, he took a seemingly useless tool he had at his disposal, and let God use it as an instrument for glory. God will do the same thing through us when we let Him. The Holy Spirit will equip you to do miraculous things with whatever resources are at your disposal, no matter how seemingly insignificant they are.  Without God’s Holy Spirit, we are nothing; with Him, we are everything God calls us to be!

Prayer:

Father, baptize us in Your Holy Spirit: more so than ever before! Father, we want more of You. We want to be surrounded by Your Presence, and covered in Your love. We know that on our own, we are weak; but when we’re overcome by Your Holy Spirit, You make us strong!
