Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
He who despises his neighbor sins; but he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he. – Prov 14:21

Did you know that compassion is a key to happiness? He who has mercy on the poor is happy. “Poor” doesn’t just mean financially deficient. “Poor” is the Hebrew ‘anav (Strong’s H6035), which means needy or afflicted. Some of the people you know might be in a tough financial spot; but others might be emotionally out of sorts, or just plain stressed!

Take a moment today to take your eyes off your own problems, and put them on someone else. When you bless someone else, you will find yourself abundantly blessed: happy, prosperous, and provided for, in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, help me to be merciful. I pray You would put people in my path who need a break. Strengthen me to give them exactly what they need, in Jesus’ name!
