Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” – Jn 4:39

Jesus knew the depth of this woman’s sin. He knew she had “five husbands” (v 18), and she wasn’t married to the man with whom she was sleeping. She was far from perfect! And He loved her all the same.

Jesus wasn’t reminding the Samaritan woman of her sin to make her feel ashamed; He was proving a point: nothing makes us undeserving of His attention. This was a Samaritan woman, in a time when Jews had, “…no dealings with Samaritans” (Jn 4:9). Yet Jesus stopped when everyone else kept walking to tell her about the love of God.

God already knows who you really are. He knows what you’ve been through. You don’t have to be perfect to have a relationship with God; you just have to know Jesus:

…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. – Rom 10:9

Nothing you have been through can disqualify you from the love of God. If you confess Jesus is Lord, and believe in Him with all your heart, God will love you no matter what. Will you say yes to Jesus today?

Prayer:

Father, I am far from perfect! But I know I don’t have to be perfect to receive Your perfect love. I believe in Jesus; and Your word says that is enough. I receive Your love, in Jesus’ name!
