Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. – Jn 5:8-9
This man had been sick thirty-eight years. He had been waiting patiently for his healing; but his healing still hadn’t happened. Yet when Jesus showed up, everything changed.
Jesus gave a word, and the man responded. Jesus told him he was healed, and he acted on God’s word. He was healed immediately, “…took up his bed, and walked” (v 9). His life would never be the same.
When Jesus comes, everything changes. Have you invited Jesus into every area of your life? Have you invited Him into your relationships? Your finances? Your career? Why waste another moment without Him, if He is willing to come whenever you call?
Prayer:
Father, I invite Your Son Jesus into every part of my life! When He shows up, everything changes. Let Him come in to all the places where I have been waiting for change to take place, and turn everything upside down in the best way!
