Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” – Jn. 5:24
When you have Jesus, you “have passed from death into life.” Scripture does not say that you will pass! The Word says that you “have passed.” Past participle. It’s already done!
When you die, you will meet God face to face. You will have to give an account to Him of why you spent your life the way you did. What did you do with what He gave you? How did you spend your moments after He brought you to life and put breath in your lungs? God requires perfection. He is perfect and holy in all of His ways, and His demand on you is the same! This will be an impossible test to pass.
But with Jesus, all things are possible. When you have Jesus, you don’t have to fear the judgment. You don’t have to dread meeting God face to face! You don’t have to worry or wonder about where you will spend eternity. Because when you believe in Him, you have passed. You have passed the test: not on your own merit, but trusting in His. And because of your faith in the Cross of Jesus Christ, you will receive the reward that only He deserves!
He passed the test, so that you can have rest.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the Cross of Jesus Christ! Thank You for sending Your only Son to die in my place, so that when I believe in Him I have eternal life! I am so grateful. This changes everything. I have passed, in Jesus’ name!
