Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” – Jn 6:35

Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Do you have a longing that nothing in this world can satisfy? Do you know there is more to life than just going through the motions, but can’t figure out exactly what it is that you’re missing?

Come to Jesus. He is the bread of life! Whoever comes to Him shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Him will never thirst!

To “hunger” is the Greek peinao (Strong’s G3983). It refers to needs and desires of the body. Jesus is telling us that whenever we have a material need, all we have to do is come to Him! He will make sure we have what we need to not only survive, but also to thrive in the purpose for which He created us!

To “thirst” is the Greek dipsao (Strong’s G1372). It refers to needs and wants of the soul. Jesus is telling us that whenever we have an emotional or spiritual need, all we have to do is believe in Him! Faith in Jesus satisfies a longing so deep, that no amount of money or earthly happiness can touch it!

Whenever you are hungry: Jesus is the answer. Whenever you are thirsty: come to Him! When you have Jesus, you have everything you will ever need.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that Jesus satisfies all my desires. He satisfies all my longings! He satisfies all my hunger. Thank You for the gift of Your Son!
