Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.” – 1 Sam 13:13
Samuel’s instructions to King Saul were simple: wait until I arrive to make an offering to God. But Samuel got impatient. He didn’t have time to wait! Instead of waiting for Samuel, Saul made an offering himself.
Samuel’s response is telling: “You have done foolishly.” Saul got impatient; and it cost him the kingdom! God was looking to establish Saul as king for years to come! But instead, Saul short-circuited his own rein because he couldn’t wait on God.
Wait on the Lord. He will do it in His timing. Don’t try and rush His plan; after all, it’s not your plan, it’s His! Have patience. God will arrive and fight the battle for you!
Prayer:
Father, give me supernatural patience. Help me to wait on you, instead of taking things into my own hands. I know that when I wait, You deliver, in Jesus’ name!
