Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“And He said to them, ‘You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.’” – Jn. 8:23-24

You were born into sin. Theologically, we – mankind – are born into the sin of Adam. David said, “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me” (Ps. 51:5). Experientially, we know this to be true. I have kids, and without heavy guidance from God-fearing parents, children definitely do not do the right thing on their own. You were born into sin, and without Jesus, “you will die in your sins!”

But with Jesus, you “have the light of life” (Jn. 8:12). You will not walk in darkness anymore! Jesus – He who “knew no sin” – became sin “for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21). Jesus died as our sin, so that when we believe in Him we become the righteousness of God!

Do you know Jesus? If you believe in Him, tell Him. If you don’t grab a hold of Jesus before it’s too late, “…you…will die in your sin.” Death is coming for you sooner or later! The only question is, will you find Life before death arrives? Reach out and touch Jesus now, while you still can! Jesus died for us “while we were still sinners” (Rom. 5:8). He will meet you right where you are, and usher you into everlasting life.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of the Cross! Thank You for sending Jesus to die in my place, so that I would have everlasting life. I know that, in Jesus, all things have been made new! I am no longer subject to my sin nature; but instead, I have been raised to Resurrection life, in Jesus’ name.
