CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:24). Jesus took on the most significant mandate any Man has ever embraced. He gave Himself into the hands of men to suffer and die on your behalf: he accepted the death only you deserve. He did it so that you would have abundant life! If a grain of wheat remains above ground and lives, there can never be multiplication. But if it is buried in the ground, it will take on new life and rise again. It will produce a harvest. Jesus was buried in the ground so that we might take on new life through Him. When we die to ourselves and embrace the purpose God has for our lives, we make room for God to produce new life through us.
Prayer:
Father, I pray that you take control of my life. I want less of me, and more of You – every single day!
