Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And I have been with you wherever you have gone… – 2 Sam 7:9a
David had experienced victory! David had also experienced defeat. Wherever David went – good or bad – God was there.
It probably didn’t feel like God was there when Saul was throwing spears at David’s head. It probably didn’t feel like God was there when David had to run from Saul for his life. It probably didn’t feel like God was there when David was hiding from Saul in a cave, wondering how he would ever become king! But God was with him wherever he went.
God is with you: wherever you go, and whatever you do. He is one breath away. Call on Him, just like David did! He will lift you up, and make you great.
…and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. – 2 Sam 7:9b
Prayer:
Father, thank You for never leaving my side. You were there! And you are here. Help me to lean on You like never before, in Jesus’ name.
