Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the tomb of Kish his father. So they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God heeded the prayer for the land. – 2 Sam. 21:14

There was a famine in Israel. David, their king, wanted to know why; so he asked God. “And the Lord answered, ‘It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites’” (2 Sam. 21:1). Saul was dead and gone! But he had spilled blood that required redemption. He had tried to cut off a people – the Gibeonites – whom God never wanted to be cut off!

So David took care of business. He asked God to take him to the root of the famine and God showed him what to do. And guess what happened as soon as David righted Saul’s wrong: “After that God heeded the prayer for the land” (v 14).

There may be blockages to your answered prayers that you don’t even know about. Ask God. He will show you what to pray, and He will show you what to do. He will show you wrongs that need to be righted before His will can come to pass! And as you step out and do what He tells you to do, He will heed your prayer.

Prayer:

Father, show me what’s blocking the answers to my prayers! Whatever I need to do, I will do. Whatever wrongs I need to right, I will right! I know I am covered by the blood; but that doesn’t mean I get to skip over past wrongs without doing my best to repair the damage. Lead me and guide me, in Jesus’ name.
