Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. – 2 Sam 22:1

David experienced victory after victory over the Philistines. God restored his kingship over Israel, and delivered him from all his enemies. In response, David sang! He sang Psalm 18 to the Lord to memorialize the victory!

When we experience victory, our response should be praise. David internalized God’s promises, memorized them, and sang them back to God. Every single one of God’s promises to David had been performed.

When we vocalize God’s word by repeating it back to Him, the atmosphere changes. Inevitable defeat turns into certain victory as we trust in God’s word. His word is necessary and sufficient for change: nothing else is required for breakthrough to take place. His word is complete: He is everything we need for total fulfillment. His word is tested and proven: everything He says will come to pass.

Sing God’s word back to Him, and watch your environment change.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. – Is 55:11

Prayer:

Father, help me to memorize Your word. Remind me to sing Your word back to You when I need to experience victory. When I lift up the sacrifice of praise to You, there is nothing the enemy can do to defeat me!
