Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. – Acts 4:3

Jesus had just healed a man through Peter and John! In Acts 3, Peter and John encountered a man who had been “lame from his mother’s womb” (Acts 3:2). But the man’s condition did not intimidate the disciples.

Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. – Acts 3:6-7

This man was instantly healed; “So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them – walking, leaping, and praising God” (v 8). Everyone took notice. They knew this man was supernaturally healed! And Peter took the opportunity to preach the Gospel so every onlooker could receive Jesus.

And then the enemy turned it up a notch. As Peter and John were preaching, the religious leaders had them arrested! But that did not matter. All that mattered was that, “…many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand” (Acts 4:4). Five thousand!

When God starts to move through your life, the enemy will turn on full-court press. But do not be intimidated! Don’t you dare back off one bit. There are souls at stake here. And people are watching how the Holy Spirit moves through your life. God will protect you! Your job is simply to preach Jesus even more boldly so that souls can be saved, no matter what comes your way!

Prayer:

Father, the more the enemy turns up the heat, the bolder I will become. I declare it in Jesus’ name! I will preach, and men will give their lives to Jesus. I will pray, and the Holy Spirit will heal through my hands! I will not be intimidated. God is on my side; what can man do to me!
