Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: … let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.” – Acts 4:8, 10

Peter and John were arrested for healing a man in the name of Jesus (see Acts 3:16). They were put on trial and fighting for their very lives! Yet their response to persecution was not to back away from the truth of the Gospel; it was to preach it all the more boldly.

When things don’t go as planned, what is your response? When the enemy turns up his attack on your life, what to do you? Do you back away from the Gospel and retreat to safety? Or do you cry out and proclaim Jesus is Lord all the more?

Prayer:

Father, when the going gets tough, the tough preach the Gospel. Help me to be bold and courageous: to never back down from the word of God and the truth of the Gospel! Help me to stand on Your word, because it is true.
