Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? …But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.” – Matt 11:7, 9
John the Baptist was a prophet. In fact, Jesus said John the Baptist was “more than” a prophet! And here’s why that is important for you.
“For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” – Lk 7:28
If you’re in the kingdom, you’re out of excuses. Rise up, prophet! You are a greater prophet than John the Baptist.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for whispering the secrets of Heaven into my ear. I receive this truth: that because I am filled with the Spirit of God, I am a greater prophet than even John the Baptist! It’s not proud; it’s promised, in Jesus’ name.
