Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” – Gen. 32:26
Jacob wrestled with God. Day was breaking, and it was time for God to go! But Jacob would not let go of God until he got his blessing! He was blessed as a result of his persistence with God.
What are you contending for? When you ask God for something, do you give up too easily? Do you walk away before you have everything God promised you? The victory belongs to those who are persistent in prayer. Don’t give up. Make the decision to continue wresting – to keep seeking! – until the full manifestation of the blessing comes.
Prayer:
Father, I don’t want to give up too easily anymore. Give me the strength and persistence to fiercely contend for everything You’ve promised me, in Jesus’ name!
