Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest… – Acts 9:1

This is the emotional state in which Paul was saved: he was, “…breathing threats and murder against the disciples.” He was out to threaten and kill God’s own people! He was far from stable. He was far from kind! But it was in that state that God was about to rescue him.

God can rescue you just like that. Paul had a dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. He was forever changed: marked from that moment forward by the power of God, for the rest of his life. He didn’t need to change first; God would change him in that moment!

You’re not perfect. But God will still meet you. You might be angry, just like Saul was! But God will still use you. You might be on your last leg! But God will still save you. He will meet you where you are; and in that moment, your life will be forever changed.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for meeting me where I am. I don’t have to be perfect to receive Your love. I don’t have to be in a good mood to enjoy Your presence. You met Your servant Saul exactly where he was; and You will do the same with me, in Jesus’ name!
