Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their ministry, and they also took with them John whose surname was Mark. – Acts 12:25

Do you know when Barnabas and Saul went home? “When they had fulfilled their ministry.” You’re not done until God says you’re done!

How many times have you ejected yourself from a job, relationship, or apartment too quickly because you made a decision to be done. You couldn’t take it any more! You couldn’t survive even one more day! You refused to keep going! But all that matters in the end is this: did you fulfill your ministry? Did you accomplish what God sent you to accomplish? Did you do what He asked you to do?

All that matters is what God says. When He says you’re done, it’s time to go home.

Prayer:

Father, speak to me! Tell me when I’m done. Tell me when I still have work left to do! I want to listen to the leading of Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
