Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. – Ps 142:2-3a

Get honest with God in prayer. Do you want to complain? Complain! Are you in trouble? Let it out! There’s no need to sugarcoat your prayers. God already knows what you’re going through anyway, whether you tell Him or not. He’s just waiting for you to invite Him into your life and ask Him to go to work.

You might feel overwhelmed; but God knows exactly what you need. He knows your path, and how to keep you on it. Be honest about what you need, and trust God to provide it!

Prayer:

Father, help me to be honest in prayer. I know I gain nothing when I sugarcoat my reality; but I gain help in time of need when I admit my faults and get honest with You!
