Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” – Acts 18:5-6

When Paul shared the Gospel with the Jews at Corinth, they rejected Jesus. But Paul didn’t take it personally. He shook his garments, and reminded them that this was their decision to make. They would receive eternal life if they received Jesus, and condemnation if they did not.

Our responsibility as Christians is to preach the Gospel with boldness: to, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mk 16:15). Some people will say yes and receive Jesus, and some will say no and forsake Him.

When they say no, take heart. Do not get discouraged. Your responsibility is to share the Good News. Whether or not they receive Jesus is their decision, not yours. If you plant the seed, God will water it. Keep it simple: share the Gospel, and let the Holy Spirit do the rest!

Prayer:

Father, remind me to keep it simple. I’m going to share the Good News with everyone I possibly can, and I know You will do the rest!
