Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. – Acts 18:26
Apollos was “an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures” (v 24). He had been “instructed in the way of the Lord” and was “fervent in spirit” (v 25). He “taught accurately the things of the Lord” (v 25) as he spoke “boldly in the synagogue” (v 26). But he still had something to learn. Aquila and Priscilla heard him and took him aside to “[explain] to him the way of God more accurately” (v 26).
No matter how many years you’ve been preaching, you still have more to learn. No matter how many years you’ve been a Christian, your eyes can still be opened! The wonderful thing about our relationship with God is that there is always room for growth. Stay humble. Stay teachable! God will send people to speak into your life: to explain the way of God “more accurately” (v 26). As He does, will you be open to what they have to say?
Prayer:
Father, give me an open and teachable heart. I pray I would never be too proud to listen to what other people have to say! I want to learn and grow every day, in Jesus’ name.
