Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
When he had greeted them, he told in detail those things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. – Acts 21:19
God did the works. Yes, He did them through Paul’s ministry; but notice that Paul refused to take any of the credit for what the Holy Spirit had done through him.
When you win a victory in your life, who gets the credit? Most of us have the unfortunate tendency of taking credit for the good, and blaming God for the bad. If something goes well, we assume it’s because we worked hard and earned it! But if something falls apart, we cry out to God and wonder, “Why, Lord?”
We should do the opposite: give God the credit for the good, and take responsibility for the bad. When something goes well, God did it. When something goes poorly, God will use it for your good. When you honor Him by giving Him the credit He deserves, He will honor you with opportunities and outcomes you don’t deserve. Give God all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise!
…for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. – Phil 2:13
Prayer:
Father, help me to glorify Your name at all times. Thank You for Your faithfulness! I am nothing without You; but I am everything because of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
