Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’” Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord… – 2 Kings 20:1-2

What is your response to bad news? Do you curse? Do you whine and complain? Do you think through every possible worst-case scenario and wonder what’s going to happen? Or do you trust God and pray?

Hezekiah got bad news: he was going to die. But Hezekiah prayed. He trusted that God knew what He was doing. He trusted that God would hear his prayer. And God honored Hezekiah’s response with an answer to prayer!

Bad news will come; but your response determines the impact it will have on your life. Trust God, and take it to prayer!

Prayer:

Father, make me a man (woman) of prayer! Whenever I face uncertainty, remind me to pray. I trust You, and I love You, in Jesus’ name!
