Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And when Bela died, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place. – 1 Chron 1:44

This entire chapter of scripture is genealogy. Notice that whenever a new ruler is introduced, you see the phrase “son of.” Bela was the son of Beor (v 43). Jobab was the son of Zerah (v 44). A person was known by his parents.

Why is this important to you? Because you are a son (daughter) of God. God is your Father; and you will be known, not by the path you have carved for yourself, but by the plans He has for you! Friends and foes will not recognize you for who you are, but whose you are: a child of the Most High King!

Rejoice in your sonship! You are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for setting me up for success. I cannot fail, because You are my Father! Help me never to forget that I belong to You; I am Yours, and You are mine.
