CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat” (Acts 27:35). Paul was held captive on a ship, about to be shipwrecked in stormy seas. What did he do at the very moment when everyone else on board panicked? He took communion. He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it in the presence of everyone on the ship. He boldly proclaimed His faith in Jesus Christ, and his confidence in God’s promise that everyone would escape the ship unharmed. Are you in the middle of a tough situation? Is everyone around you panicking? Take communion. God is faithful, and He will deliver you unharmed.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for delivering me! Even when I don’t deserve it, You promise me protection. I will take communion whenever I need a reminder of all Your promises to me!Father, thank You for delivering me! Even when I don’t deserve it, You promise me protection. I will take communion whenever I need a reminder of all Your promises to me!
