Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord … Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: …[and] of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you.” – 1 Chron 22:14-16
God called Solomon to build something great. Solomon was to build a temple so miraculous that the whole world would take notice of God’s glory! Solomon was a young man when he got the call; but he wasn’t overwhelmed, because he had help. Solomon’s father, David, had made preparations. He had stored up iron, silver, and gold for the project. He had assembled teams of craftsmen to work on the temple. All Solomon had to do was rise up and do the work!
You are just like Solomon. God has called you to great things! But you are not alone. He will send the resources you need (v 14). He will send people to help (v 15)! And He will be with you, strengthening and encouraging you, until the work is done (v 16). Now rise up and do the work!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making abundant preparation for my life. You have gathered the resources necessary for me to fulfill my calling. You have surrounded me with people who are willing to work with me. I know that no matter what, You are with me!
