…Indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, …that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God. – 2 Chron 5:13-14
Unity attracts God’s glory. Unity changes atmospheres. All of Israel was united in worship. They lifted up one song and praised God with all their hearts. They invited His presence into their city; and God showed up.
This is what church should look like every Sunday! The glory of the Lord was so tangible that the priests could not continue ministering. When was the last time you saw your pastor unable to continue service because he was so impacted by the presence of God?
Unity is how we get there. When we are united as one, just as Jesus and God are One (Jn 17:21), God’s Holy Spirit will overwhelm us: not only in our sanctuaries, but also in our cities!
Prayer:
Father, I ask that You would increase unity in my city. I pray that every house of worship would jump at the opportunity to worship together with other houses of worship. Unite our cities, and help us to worship Your Son Jesus Christ with one accord!
