Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
He also made ten lavers, and put five on the right side and five on the left, to wash in them; such things as they offered for the burnt offering they would wash in them, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in. – 2 Chron 4:6

Under the Old Covenant, the priests had an extensive cleansing ritual they had to complete before they were clean enough to offer a sacrifice to God. Jews for Jesus explains that, “Whereas sacrifices were to atone for acts of sin, washing or bathing [was] generally associated with cleansing from a sinful or otherwise unholy condition.”[1] It took a lot of work to get clean so you could present yourself to God!

But under the New Covenant, you have been cleansed – once and for all – by the blood of Jesus. You are already clean in Jesus’ name, and no further cleansing is required for you to go to God! Whether you feel clean or dirty is of no consequence in determining your worth. Whether you see yourself as close to God or far from Him does not influence your ability to go to God in prayer! You are worthy, because the blood of Jesus makes you worthy. Jesus has made you clean!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for cleansing me. I have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus, and I am endlessly grateful for that. Thank You that I can come into Your presence at any time with nothing to fear!
