CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!” (2 Chron 20:17). Jehoshaphat, King of Israel, had a big problem. The people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir came up against the people of Israel, and the Israelites didn’t stand a chance. So instead of trusting in man and forming an alliance with a neighboring people, Jehoshaphat relied fully on God. He learned the same lesson David learned when he went up against Goliath: the battle is not ours to win, but the Lord’s. What battle are you facing in your life? Are you fighting for your own victory? Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Adopt a ready posture and receive everything He has for you. The victory on the Cross has already been won, and there is nothing left to win: only to receive.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You have already won the victory for us! Help me to do less: to stand still and see Your salvation.
