Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. – Rom 12:1

Scripture argues that presenting our bodies as “a living sacrifice” to God is our “reasonable service.” In other words, God expects every believer to submit – to present as an offering – our bodies to Him.

Do you agree with Scripture that giving your body to God is “reasonable?” Or is it a bit of a stretch for you? That means you don’t get to sleep with whomever you want. That means you don’t get to fill your body with whatever you want. That means you don’t get to abuse your body, because it’s His, and not yours! How can Scripture possibly expect us to receive this verse in 2019, when the dominant culture tells us we get to do whatever we want with our bodies, whenever we want?

Your body is actually not yours; it’s God’s. It doesn’t belong to you; it belongs to Him!

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1 Cor 6:19-20

If you’ve given your life to Jesus, you are His. He is the Groom, and you are His bride! That might sound like a huge responsibility (it is!); but much more than that, it is an awesome privilege. Because what God calls His, He cares and provides for.

Do you need healing in your body? Do you need strength, renewal, rejuvenation and refreshing? You belong to Him. He will take care of you! Give everything you are to Him: not only your body, but also your life! And He will take you places you never dreamed possible.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for caring for me. Thank You for buying me at a price! It is my reasonable service to glorify You: in my body, and in my life! All that I have is Yours – no questions asked – in Jesus’ name!
