Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. – Ps. 24:1
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness. Everything on the earth and in the earth belongs to the Lord. Even “those who dwell therein” belong to Him. You belong to God! Scripture says that “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, whom you have from God, and you are not your own” (1 Cor. 6:19).
This is particularly poignant in this age of personal freedom. It’s not your body; it’s His. It’s not your life; it’s His! It’s not your desires; they’re His. And when you understand that your body and your life belong to God and not to you, everything changes. Your life will move from being performance-based to being offering-based. Everything you do will no longer be a performance to try and win God’s affection! It will be an offering that you give unto God because you know you already have it.
Don’t you see? Your life doesn’t belong to you; it belongs to Him. Let everything you do be an offering unto God.
“O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own.” – 1 Chron. 29:16
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me life! I know that I am not my own. I belong to You! And I will live my life as a holy offering unto You, in Jesus’ name!
