Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. – Rom 15:1
Whenever we see injustice, the burden is on us to fix it. Whenever we see someone who is helpless, the burden is on us to help him. Whenever we see someone who is hopeless, the burden is on us to give her hope. As those who know Jesus Christ – our Helper and our Hope – it is our responsibility to share His Good News with others.
The burden to share power and privilege rests on the shoulders of the men and women who possess it. We cannot sit back and wait for the spiritually impoverished to ask for what we have; we must freely give what we have freely received.
Jesus Christ was given all authority in heaven and on earth (Matt 28:18). He shared His power and authority with us, and filled us with His Holy Spirit. It is now our joy to go out and spread His Gospel with the world!
Prayer:
Father, help me to speak up whenever I see injustice. Help me to speak out whenever I see something that would make You upset. I want to be Your mouthpiece, and I want to speak with boldness!
