Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now Josiah kept a Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and they slaughtered the Passover lambs on the fourteenth day of the first month. – 2 Chron. 35:1

Josiah was a good king. He inherited the throne of Judah from a line of kings who wanted nothing to do to God. But Josiah turned his heart to the Lord. Then he led the entire nation of Judah to do the same! And here is how he did it:

And he set the priests in their duties and encouraged them for the service of the house of the Lord. – 2 Chron. 35:2

Josiah not only assigned duties to his leaders; he also encouraged them. He gave them tasks, and then he motivated them in the tasks he had assigned! Once you delegate, your work is not done. As a leader, your next job is to encourage the people you lead! This requires you to be present. Don’t stop before the real work is done. Encourage the people God has given you to lead, and they will fulfill His work with joy in their hearts!

Prayer:

Father, help me to be an encourager. There are plenty of days when I have too much on my plate and plenty enough to worry about; but help me to stop and be an encourager, especially on those days. The people around me need a good leader, so I ask that You would make me one in Jesus’ name!
