Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom … Ezra 1:1

God inspired Jeremiah to speak! But it was Jeremiah’s word that spurred God to action. God stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, “…that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled” (v. 1). God gave Jeremiah the word to speak; but Jeremiah’s spoken word compelled God to move. Without Jeremiah’s word, there would have been nothing for God to fulfill!

So what does that mean for your life? What has God given you to speak? If you don’t declare God’s word over your life, there will be nothing for God to fulfill! There will be no promise for Him to exercise. But if you would take His word and repeat it out loud over your life every morning, noon, and night, God would get to work and make His word come to pass.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. – Prov. 18:21

Prayer:

Father, give me the courage to declare Your word over my life! Thank You for trusting me enough to partner with me. Help me to prove that I am worthy of that trust, in Jesus’ name!
