Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? – 1 Cor. 3:5
Paul had done big things! But Paul had not gotten a big head. He knew he was not someone to be praised; he was simply a “…minister through whom [men and women] believed.” He was a man who gave all the praise to Jesus!
What a privilege it is to be a vessel! We are nothing by ourselves; but Jesus can do anything through us! Do you want to be mightily used by God? Get out of your own way. Refuse to think too highly of yourself! God will use you; but first you have to admit that it is only by His strength that anything worth doing is possible at all.
So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. – 1 Cor. 3:7
Prayer:
Father, thank You for using me. I am so humbled by Your choice to use an imperfect vessel like me to show Your glory to the world! Thank You; and I bless You, in Jesus’ name.
