Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal” (1 Cor 13:1). If you’ve ever been to a wedding, you’ve heard today’s verses. It’s important to remember that Paul’s discussion of the importance of love directly follows his encouragement that all Christians should “earnestly desire” spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:31). At CityLight Church, we believe in the pursuit and exercise of spiritual gifts for all Christians. But we can never forget love. If you have all the spiritual gifts in the world but you lack love, you have nothing. If you can prophecy to the nations but lack integrity founded in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, you have nothing. We must remember that our goal in attaining spiritual gifts and anointing is not to promote ourselves; it is to become equipped to love others better.

Prayer:

Father, help me to love the people around me better! I know that Your Holy Spirit will lead and guide me to bless the people around me. I earnestly desire to love everyone around me better!
