Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?  But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. – 1 Cor 12:17-18

Being united doesn’t mean we are the same. Jesus desires for His body to be united (see John 17:21), but He doesn’t desire us to lose our individuality as we do life together. The body is composed of many different parts, and each has a purpose. In the same way, God’s kingdom is made up of many different believers, and each has an irreplaceable function and role.

God made you you on purpose! You were put on this earth to do something no one else can do, to say things no one else can say, and to reach people for Jesus who no one else can reach! You don’t have to wish you had someone else’s ministry or influence. God gave you exactly what He needs you to have!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me unique! Help me to find the balance in staying unique but also united with the body of Christ around me. Thank You for blessing me with a position in Your body, in Jesus’ name!
