Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. – 2 Cor 5:21

Jesus didn’t just die with your sin; He died as your sin. Jesus never sinned; yet He became sin for you. He died as your sin so that you would never have to pay the price you truly owe for your mistakes. He died so that you could become righteousness.

You have not just been given the righteousness of God; you have become the righteousness of God. Righteousness is not something you wear as a garment, or keep in your pocket like a wallet. Righteousness is your permanent condition once you give your life to Jesus! Jesus made you righteousness, once and for all!

What you have can be stolen; but what you are can never be taken away. You are the righteousness of Christ; and as long as you cling to Him, that will never change. On your best day, you are the righteousness of Christ. On your worst day, you are still the righteousness of Christ!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your righteousness. I am the righteousness of Christ! It is something that can never be taken from me, as long as I am hidden in You! Thank You, in Jesus’ name.
