For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. – 2 Cor 8:9
Jesus had all of Heaven’s resources at His disposal. He made gold appear in the mouth of a fish (Matt 17:27). His garments were so valuable that Roman soldiers cast lots to get their hands on them (Jn 19:23). Jesus could have enjoyed earthly wealth; but He gave it up for you!
Jesus died so you wouldn’t have to suffer lack – spiritually, or materially. The purpose of His sacrifice was so that you, “…might become rich”: wealthy, and abounding in material resources (Greek plousios; Strong’s G4145). He was rich so that you can be enriched. In other words, God is the financier of earthly resources; and when you trust in Him, He will give you everything you need!
God wants you blessed and prosperous! If you’re not blessed, how can you bless other people? If you only have enough for you and your family to get by, how are you going to be a blessing to other nations? God’s heart is for you to prosper! His blessings make one rich, and He adds no sorrow to it (Prov 10:22)! He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant (Ps 35:27)!
Don’t ever say you are being poor for the Lord. He became poor so that you might become rich.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for supplying all my needs. I rebuke lack in Jesus mighty name. I ask that You would send abundance: exceedingly, abundantly, above all that I can ask or think, in Jesus’ name!
