Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people: “Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” – Ps 50:4-5

Without a sacrifice, there is no covenant. The Psalmist reflects that when Jesus comes again to judge the living and the dead, He will gather together, “…those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

Under Old Covenant Law, God’s people sacrificed animals. The blood of sacrificial lambs, bulls, and goats served to atone for sin, and sealed the covenant between God and His people.

Under our New Covenant with God – by grace, through faith – only one sacrifice is required. Jesus Christ gave His life on the Cross so that we could be restored to God. His blood serves to atone for all sin, and seals the covenant between God and His people. Trust in Jesus! He is the only Sacrifice you need. His blood covers every sin: past, present future. His blood restores you to your position as a child of God!

Prayer:

Father, I believe in Jesus with all my heart. I trust that the Cross is all I need. I know that when I confess Jesus is Lord, and believe in Him with all my heart, I am saved: by grace, through faith!
