Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven. – 2 Cor 12:2
Paul’s vision was so real that he wasn’t sure if it really happened, or if he saw it with his spiritual eyes. This should be the basis and template for our encounters with God. Paul is not simply relaying a story; he is setting the bar!
When God speaks to you, does it sound like He’s in the room? When He leads you in a new direction, does it actually feel like He’s pulling you? When He gives you a prophetic word, does it literally feel like you’re weighed down with a burden you have to unload?
God is real. The spiritual world around us is real: much more real, in fact, than the natural world we see with our eyes. Our encounters with God should feel as real as anything we’ve ever experienced.
Don’t settle for anything less. If you ask God for a genuine encounter with Him, He will honor that request!
Prayer:
Father, bless me with visions and dreams! I’m asking You to make my encounters with You so real, that I can’t tell if I’m awake or dreaming!
