Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles… – Eph 3:1

Paul was a prisoner for you. He was willing to be held in a cell against his will so that you and I might read his letter centuries later. Scripture is full of stories of men and women who gave their freedom – and even their very lives – to pass down to us a record of the goodness of God!

And do you know why they were willing to do it? Jesus did it first.

“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” – Jn 10:17-18

We can trust Jesus because He led by example. He can ask us to lay down our lives for Him, because He laid down His life for us first! He isn’t asking us to do something He wasn’t first willing to do Himself.

You are worthy of the Cross of Jesus Christ. And He is worthy of your life laid down at His feet!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the death and Resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ. I know I can trust Jesus, because He already chose death so I could have life! He never asks me to do something He has not already done.
